This week Crystal Palace manager Patrick Vieira said he and the club “demand more” from striker Christian Benteke.
The Eagles boss will therefore be happy to learn that the Palace frontman has a habit of scoring on Tuesday as his team head to Elland Road tonight.
The 30-year-old has scored 12 career Premier League goals on a Tuesday during his stint in England.
The tally is so impressive that only two top-flight giants achieved more goals that day than the Belgian – Alan Shearer (15) and Wayne Rooney (13).
Palace will face a struggling Leeds side at Elland Road this Tuesday night, and it will be the perfect opportunity for the Palace No.20 not only to grant his boss’s wish to appear on the scoresheet more often, but also to surpass Rooney’s record.
The former Villa man has scored four times in 13 Premier League appearances for the South London club so far this season.
However, Vieira will be hopeful his striker can regain the form he found in his first season in south London in 2016/17, in which he found the net 15 times in the league.
What better time then for Benteke to reverse the decline in his scoring abilities than his favorite day of the week?
