The stars shone brightly at Off-White’s Fall/Winter 2022 show, with fashion and celebrity giants Kendall Jenner, Gigi Hadid, Bella Hadid, Serena Williams, Karlie Kloss, Naomi Campbell and Joan Smalls walking all for the label.
But it was another high-profile moment that stole the show: mother-daughter duo Cindy Crawford and Kaia Gerber making a rare appearance on the same catwalk.
Wearing a set of dressier looks from Off-White’s latest collection – which was designed, in large part, by its late founder Virgil Abloh – the pair turned heads on the opening day of Fashion Week from Paris.
Crawford wore a tiered tulle skirt in dusty rose, a cropped blazer and a graphic, spliced tee. Gerber (top photo) wore an over-the-top mini beanbag and t-shirt combo, complete with towering sandals (the heels of the shoes depicted candlesticks).

Dubbed “Spaceship Earth”, the presentation saw models walk across a large white square at the Palais Brongniart, while a chandelier of tall props anchored the room. The semi-monolithic domestic adornment offered hints of “2001: A Space Odyssey.”
Yet the clothes were less conceptual and more grounded in the visual marks Abloh established in the decade after his company was founded. There were plenty of Crawford-style cut-out and layered tulle dresses and skirts, while pointed-ear hats and varsity jackets came with the designer’s signature motif: phrases in quotes. Jenner wore a sparkly black mini dress printed with the words “Little Black Dress,” while two models stood on the catwalk with flags reading “Question Everything.”

The show also boasted the introduction of a “couture” line with more ornate, handmade pieces.
It has been reported that Off-White’s owners, LVMH and New Guards Group, hope to continue Abloh’s vision while growing the brand into a multi-billion dollar business. The late designer had a keen and inquisitive aesthetic eye, but was equally committed to popular culture, which helped spark the brand’s mass appeal through a constellation of friends and famous faces.
Whoever fills his creative shoes will have to keep finding that balance between fashionable clothes and people. With Rihanna, A$AP Rocky, Pharrell Williams and Idris Elba in attendance Monday, the brand may already be on the way.
