Parents of Liverpool soccer star Luis Díaz kidnapped in Colombia


BOGOTA, Colombia—The parents of Luis Diazstar striker for Liverpool Football Club in the English Premier League, were kidnapped Saturday from a gas station in a rural Colombian province where they are from, police said.

Díaz’s parents, Luis Manuel Díaz and Cilenis Marulanda, were stopped by at least two men who were waiting for them at the gas station, a police official said in an interview. Diaz’s father was taken away on a motorcycle, police said, while the mother was taken away in the couple’s SUV. Police said the motivation for seizing the couple appeared to be ransom money.
