Panama’s Launch of a Futuristic Beachfront Home Goes Wrong

The unveiling of a futuristic luxury home model on the Caribbean coast of Panama fell through on Thursday when the SeaPod Eco prototype perched above water on a column collapsed onto an adjacent dock.

Developer Ocean Builders said in a statement that the sleek white house began to “unsettle” as the launch event ended. He said no one was injured and the cause was being investigated.

The spaceship-reminiscent home sits high above the water and offers stunning views from a row of windows. Developers had planned to start offering the homes for sale next year, touting them as environmentally and economically friendly.

A SeaPod Eco prototype, the first of a futuristic line of homes built on water, is shown to the press at Linton Bay Marina, Panama.

Developers hoped to market these homes which are only accessible by boat off the Caribbean coast of Panama.
