Palace Pier will miss next week’s Qatar Sussex Stakes at Goodwood with unsatisfactory blood results.
The Kingman colt is unbeaten in three starts this season – bringing his tally to four in Group 1 with top wins in the Lockinge at Newbury and the Queen Anne Stakes at Royal Ascot.
John and Thady Gosden’s stable star looked set for a tantalizing clash with 2000 Guineas Jim Bolger and St James’s Palace Stakes winner Poetic Flare at Goodwood, but he was left out of the summer’s flagship reunion.
Thady Gosden said: “His blood is extinguished, and obviously it wouldn’t have been the right thing to try to push him into Sussex.
“The next race that suits him is the Prix Jacques le Marois (in Deauville). We’re going to have to miss Goodwood, it’s frustrating.
“I hope we take him to France. He obviously won the Jacques le Marois last year, so he’s a good reinforcement.”
