PAK vs. NZ | Twitter reacts to ‘new year, new Pakistan’ as Agha Salman shoots blanket blind spot

Commissioning standards globally have risen in recent years due to low margins of error in T20s, but Pakistan has retained the tag of being the worst commissioning country. However, in the first ODI of the new year, Salman Agha Ali looked set to turn things around by catching a spectacular hold.
Pakistan started the first ODI against New Zealand at the National Stadium in Karachi on Monday in scintillating fashion as Naseem Shah brushed aside prolific fly-half Devon Conway for a golden duck in the very first part of the game. As of this writing, the Kiwis are up 74/3 after 15 overs with Daryl Mitchell and Tom Latham on the crease.
With the World Cup just eight months away and set to take place under very similar conditions in neighboring India, the series is crucial preparation for the showpiece event for both teams. While the Black Caps have reached the final in the past two editions, the Men in Green have often been let down by avoidable things like batting slumps and chaotic lineouts involving lost strikes and free boundaries. However, in the new year, the hosts seemed to have turned over a new leaf, as Salman Agha Ali demonstrated in the round of 12.
Finn Allen was on strike and after a slow start took the game to Pakistan with six limits in the space of two overs. The fly-half was in devastating form and looked set to receive the same treatment as Mohammad Wasim who played his first game in the match. The pacer hit a short-length delivery on the outside, tempting Allen to kick the ball through the covers. The youngster looked to have done a good job putting him into the gap until Salman Aghla Ali placed for cover inside the circle timed a jump perfectly to his left. The all-rounder was out of breath as he neatly retrieved the fly ball with both hands, his movements to grab it graceful enough to put a gymnast to shame.
The Pakistani defender’s spectacular effort left Twitterati stunned as they took to social media to praise Agha Ali.
