The 94th Annual Academy Awards took a wild turn on Sunday night.

At the awards show, Chris Rock was presenting an award when he made a joke about Will Smith’s wife, Jada Pinkett Smith.

It was reported that after the joke about a sequel to “GI Jane” and Pinkett Smith’s bald head, Smith was deeply offended and walked over to Rock, slapping him before returning to his seat.

He then, muted on the Oscars live stream, started yelling at Rock. Smith reportedly said, “Get my wife’s name out of your (expletive) mouth”.

Pinkett Smith has been open about her battle with hair loss.

The Dolby Theater was shocked, as was Rock, as he seemed to struggle after the encounter to find his train of thought.

Representatives for Rock and Smith, as well as the Academy, did not immediately respond to Fox News’ request for comment.

Following the incident, Smith won Best Actor on Sunday night for his performance in “King Richard.” While delivering his acceptance speech, Smith was in tears.

“I want to apologize to the academy. I want to apologize to all of my fellow nominees,” he said. “It’s a beautiful moment and I’m not crying for winning an award. It’s not about winning an award for me, it’s about being able to shine a light on everyone.”
