The Secretary General of Amnesty International is indignant at the profit-seeking strategy of vaccine-producing countries, which condemns “the death penalty” to many inhabitants of the planet. In its 2020/2021 report, the organization also denounces the repressive measures adopted by certain countries which have used the argument of the pandemic to limit freedom of expression.
In its 2020/2021 report, Amnesty International takes stock of a year turned upside down by the Covid-19 pandemic. Faced with the low hand of rich countries on vaccines against the coronavirus, the human rights NGO called on Wednesday, April 7, the international community to correct the situation “immediately”, worrying about the consequences of the failure of the world’s ability to cooperate.
Agnès Callamard, who has just taken the post of Secretary General of this NGO, was previously UN Special Rapporteur on summary or arbitrary extrajudicial executions.
