Last week Samsung released the One UI 6 beta for the Galaxy Z Fold5 and Z Flip5, now older foldables also get a first look at Android 14 – Galaxy Z Fold4 and Galaxy Z Flip4 units in South Korea see the beta firmware. Surprisingly, the mid-range Galaxy F23 joins them.
One UI 6 brings a redesigned Quick Panel, along with AI features for Gallery – Photo Remaster and Object Eraser and more. Additionally, Samsung Studio is a new multi-layered video editor that can add text, stickers and music to your clips. There are also new camera widgets, which can be configured to launch the camera app in a specific mode (e.g. front or rear camera, photo or video mode, pro mode, night mode, etc.).
One UI 6 beta arrives on the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold4 and Z Flip4
Version 6 also brings some changes to multitasking. When a pop-up window is open and you go to Recent Apps, the window is no longer minimized so you can continue using it after you return. You can now also drag and drop items onto the Home screen with two hands: one hand holds the icon or widget, the other hand scrolls to the desired Home screen pane. This makes moving around on the Folds’ large internal screen much easier.
It is unclear when the One UI 6 beta will be available for the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold5 and Z Flip5 outside of Korea. The Z Fold5 and Z Flip5 updates have only rolled out in the US and India, so Samsung is moving slowly.
As for the Galaxy F23, it is a version of the Galaxy M23 sold in India – both have almost identical hardware and were launched with Android 12. The F23 received Android 13 in December last year. This suggests that the M23 version update shouldn’t be far behind, but we haven’t heard anything yet.
Samsung Galaxy F23 also receives One UI 6 beta
While you’re waiting, you should install the Samsung Members app, as you’ll need it to apply for the One UI beta program. Once the beta version is available in your region, the app should display a notification. Of course, it may be wiser to skip the beta completely and just wait for the stable release.
