After being diagnosed with overtraining syndrome in March, the two-time gold medalist managed to reclaim her spot on the U.S. Women’s Olympic Swimming Team for her second Olympics. Before leaving for Tokyo, the swim sensation revealed everything she had packed in her swim bag as well as her advice for budding young swimmers.
“Never be complacent. Be proud of what you’ve accomplished, but always look ahead and work towards the future,” Simone explained. “Do all the little things that others might not reach your goals – go to bed early, eat well, take care of your sanity, and stretch.”
