Ohio woman with HIV had contact with over 211 people: Public health notice

MARIETTA, Ohio (WTRF) — Police in Ohio have issued a public health advisory after a woman was charged with solicitation after testing positive for HIV, a 3rd degree felony.

Linda Leccesse was charged in Washington County. Leccesse allegedly engaged in sexual acts on Market Street in Marietta, Ohio, from January 2022 until May 13.

Through the investigation, officers say they learned and identified at least 211 people who had contact with Leccesse.

Officers from the Washington County Sheriff’s Office and the Marietta Police Department will make phone calls to known phone numbers that have been in contact with this individual. Authorities say this is not a scam.

Officials say those receiving the phone calls are not in trouble and that officers will refer individuals to their local health departments for HIV testing and/or treatment.

No hearings are currently scheduled for Lecesse.
