NZD down after RBNZ inflation expectations data

One of the longer-term inflation expectations has increased. It’s not at levels that will be too much of a concern though.

On longer-term indications, 10 years increased:

  • Five-year average inflation expectations were slightly lower than last quarter’s value of 2.42%, settling at 2.33%.
  • The ten-year average inflation expectation also changed slightly. The 2.13% figure posted this quarter is only up two basis points from 2.11%.
  • The reserve banks’ inflation target range is 1-3%.
