NXT star Cameron Grimes was coached by The Hardy Boyz, but now he could win the Million Dollar Title and line up with WWE Legend Ted DiBiase

Cameron Grimes is fortunate enough to join a strong legacy of Million Dollar title winners this Sunday at NXT TakeOver: In Your House.

Stone Cold Steve Austin, Virgil, Ted Dibiase Jr and, the Million Dollar Man himself, Ted DiBiase are the only men to ever hold the title.

Cameron Grimes is one of the best characters in WWE right now

In a ladder match this Sunday, Grimes will go head to head with LA Knight for the chance to be called the Million Dollar Champion and talkSPORT had the chance to choose the millionaire brains.

After being coached by The Hardy Boyz …

“The scales are in my blood. The Hardy Boyz, from Cameron, NC, it’s really wild. It’s as if history had already been written.

“I was born there and my best memories were in a wrestling ring. I learned to walk in a wrestling ring, so naturally as an adult I’m going to be better.

If he’s talked to Jeff Hardy since joining WWE …

“Very little. We’ve crossed paths, but the guys on the main roster are doing their thing and we’re doing our thing in NXT.”

If WWE was still the end goal …

“100 percent. Since I started chasing after that professionally. WWE has always been the end goal. It’s the alpha and omega. It’s the pinnacle, I don’t care what you say, this is the best.

“There is no higher destination. So why not go and achieve the highest goals?

On working with Shane ‘Hurricane’ Helms in IMPACT…

“The Hurricane was a big influence on my career and taught me how to be a businessman and not just a wrestler. How I should stand behind my back so that people try to fight me before we even step in the ring.

“Shane ‘Hurricane’ Helms was amazing. He’s watching over me – he’s always watching over me – if anyone has a problem they might have to take a step back, that’s all I can say.

If the influx of guys from PWG to WWE helped him decide to join the company …

“For sure. When I went to PWG, all of these guys were there at the time. It was like where you wanted to go if you wanted to be the best. So I showed up there and all of them. these guys were taken away.

“I held it there for a little while, but now it was my turn to come over here and run with these guys that I know I can run with.

“It makes things a little better knowing that I interacted and worked with these guys, I struggled with these guys. It naturally makes things a little easier, but I’m up for anything. It does not matter”

Competing for the Million Dollar Title …

“I never, ever imagined that would happen. I never thought I would fight for the Million Dollar Championship. And then also, at the same time, I would never have imagined that I would be a millionaire!

“Five years ago I was trying to make a name for myself in this business and now I’m fighting for the Million Dollar Championship which hasn’t been in this business for, what, 20 years now? And I’m only 27 years old.

“So you see the age there, here’s a fact: Ted DiBiase’s last wrestling match, I wasn’t even born yet!” Two months later, Cameron Grimes was born.

If he wants Ted DiBiase to be his manager …

“The advantage of being a Millionaire or a Million Dollar Man is that you don’t have to work for anyone! Ted is retired. Ted has a good setup of stuff. If Ted wants to come with me because I’m the million dollar champion, I would love that. I would absolutely love this.

“But I’m not going to force a retiree to go to work, you know what I mean ?!” There are some things that you just don’t ask of people!

Make sure to catch NXT TakeOver: In Your House this Sunday on the WWE Network starting at 1 a.m.
