Nvidia could soon have an RTX 4080 Super with 20 GB of VRAM

Nvidia is reportedly preparing Super versions of some of its RTX 40 series cards, including an RTX 4080 Super with 20GB of memory. VideoCardz reports that hardware leaks recently leaked information about possible RTX 4080 and RTX 4070 Super cards, with reliable hardware leak kopite7kimi confirming these claims.

Nvidia canceled a 12GB variant of the RTX 4080 a year ago before announcing it as the RTX 4070 Ti at CES earlier this year. Now the company could be preparing a 20GB variant of the RTX 4080 with the Super moniker which we haven’t seen since the RTX 20 series. Nvidia is also reportedly working on an RTX 4070 Super.

New RTX 40-series Super GPUs could have a higher memory bus

Both RTX 40-series Super GPUs are expected to include a higher memory bus, with the RTX 4080 Super expected to come with a 320-bit memory bus and the RTX 4070 Super expected to be a 256-bit memory bus card. The RTX 4070 Super is also rumored to include 16GB of VRAM, more than the 12GB of memory currently provided on the RTX 4070 and RTX 4070 Ti.

So how will an RTX 4070 Super stack up against an RTX 4070 Ti? Hardware leak kopite7kimi says The “RTX 4070 Super looks like an RTX 4070 Ti with a bit of trimming,” so it could just be a modest improvement over the RTX 4070. The RTX 4080 Super could also be a minor upgrade to the 4080 .

We won’t know for sure until Nvidia announces these cards, assuming they are officially announced. We’ve heard rumors about a line of Super GPUs for the RTX 30 series that never came to fruition, but the number of hardware leaks discussing these latest rumors about the Super RTX 40 series makes me wonder if Nvidia will have any soon news.
