Number of foreigners murdered, kidnapped or missing in Hamas terror attack rises

Hundreds of foreign nationals in Israel are believed to have been murdered, missing or kidnapped by Hamas terrorists following Saturday’s deadly invasion by land, air and sea.

As Breitbart News reported, many people were present at the Supernova music festival in southern Israel, where Zaka Search and Rescue confirmed its staff had recovered some 260 bodies.

As of Monday evening, the third day of the war between Israel and Hamas, the cumulative death toll stood at nearly 1,600, with the Israeli military saying more than 900 Israelis alone had died, UPI reports.

Here’s what foreign nations are saying about the status of their citizens in Israel, as compiled by UPI and the BBC.


The Argentine embassy in Israel announced Monday that seven Argentines were dead and 15 others were missing.

A total of 625 citizens of the South American country also requested to be evacuated from the Middle Eastern country, according to the statement.


The Brazilian Ministry of Foreign Affairs reports that three Brazilian nationals have been reported missing in Israel.

So far, its embassy in Tel Aviv has heard from 1,700 Brazilians, mostly tourists in Tel Aviv and Jerusalem, who have “expressed interest” in being repatriated, the ministry said in a statement.

Monday, its air force tweeted she was in the process of organizing six evacuation flights, one of which had already landed in Rome, Italy, en route to Israel.


Jackson Carlaw, British MP for Eastwood, announced via tweet on Monday that Bernard Cowan had been “assassinated on Saturday by Hamas”.

He added that the family had confirmed Cowan’s death at the hands of the terrorists.

“Our sincere condolences to his family and we respect their privacy in their grief,” Carlaw said. “May his memory be a blessing.”

The BBC reports that at least 10 other Britons have been killed or missing.


Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet said a Cambodian student in Israel died in the Hamas attack.


Canadian Foreign Minister Mélanie Joly told CTV News on Monday that she had received reports that one Canadian had been killed and three others were missing.


At least two Chilean nationals are missing.

Chilean Foreign Minister Alberto van Klaveren on Monday evening said he had spoken with Danny Garcovich, the father of missing Loren Garcovich. She and her husband, Ivan Illarramendi, a Spaniard, were reportedly among those kidnapped by Hamas.

Comunidad Judia de Chile, which represents the Jewish community of Chile, tweeted the couple lived on a kibbutz near the border with Gaza and their house had been destroyed.

“The temperance and clarity of his words are admirable,” Klaveren said of his conversation with Danny Garcovich. “We will not stop supporting your research.”

Chile’s Foreign Ministry said in a statement Monday that it was also organizing repatriation flights.

Israeli victims Itai and Hadar Berdichevsky were allegedly murdered after hiding their 10-month-old twins during the Hamas terror attack. The babies were found about 14 hours after their parents died.


Two Colombian nationals, Ivonne Rubio and Antonio Mesias Motano, are believed to have been missing since their participation in the Supernova music festival.

Israel’s ambassador to Colombia said he prayed the couple would be found quickly and safely.

“Our thoughts and solidarity with your family and friends,” he said. tweeted.


France said in a statement Monday that it mourned the death of a second citizen who died in the Hamas attack.

Fourteen other missing people are believed to have been kidnapped by Hamas, including a 12-year-old child.

“The information we have allows us to consider that some of them have been kidnapped,” the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement on Sunday.

The French Foreign Ministry told reporters in a statement that it had nearly 62,000 French nationals registered at the consulate general in Tel Aviv and 25,000 at its Jerusalem station.


German prosecutors are investigating after German citizens were apparently kidnapped in the Hamas attack, AP reports.

Federal prosecutors said in an emailed statement that an investigation into unknown Hamas members suspected of hostage-taking, murder and membership in a foreign terrorist organization was opened on Tuesday.

A woman whose apparently lifeless body was exposed half-naked in the back of a van surrounded by Hamas terrorists on Saturday has already been identified by her family as German citizen Shani Louk.

The German Foreign Ministry said it had to assume that an unknown number of people with dual German-Israeli nationality were among those kidnapped by Hamas on Saturday.

It is common for German prosecutors to open an investigation when the country’s citizens suffer harm abroad.


Kim Danti, a 22-year-old Irish-Israeli woman, is missing.

RTÉ, the country’s national broadcaster, reports that she was last seen at the music festival. Taoiseach Leo Varadkar said the Irish embassy in the country was dealing with the matter.

There is an Irish Emergency Response Team and citizens are encouraged to contact the embassy in Tel Aviv.


Mexican Foreign Affairs Secretary Alicia Barcena announced via tweet On Sunday, two Mexican nationals, a man and a woman, were reportedly kidnapped by Hamas on Saturday.

Late Monday, she announcement a third Mexican, initially suspected of having been taken hostage by Hamas, was found safe and sound.

Mexico also sent two planes to evacuate its nationals from the country.

Barcena had earlier said 500 Mexican citizens in Israel had registered with the federal department for emergency assistance.

Nepal’s Foreign Ministry said in a statement Monday that it was repatriating the bodies of 10 Nepalese students killed by Hamas at Kibbutz Alumim in southern Israel.

As a mark of respect for those killed, Nepal has declared a national morning day and will fly the national flag at half-mast in all government offices and Nepali missions abroad.

He added that a Nepali man was still missing in Israel and that he was working to repatriate those who wanted to return home.


Four Peruvian nationals have been missing since Saturday’s attack, Peru’s foreign ministry said.

Nine other people were injured and 11 were taken hostage, officials said at a news conference Monday, adding that hundreds of people in high-risk areas near Gaza had been evacuated.


President Joe Biden said Monday that at least 11 Americans had been killed. An unknown number of Americans are also missing, he added.

“Sadly, we now know that at least 11 American citizens were among those killed – many of whom had made Israel their home,” Biden said in a statement.

He added: “It’s heartbreaking. These families have been torn apart by inexcusable hatred and violence.

Israeli officials say more than 100 people have been captured by Hamas, while the terrorist group claims to have taken more than 130 hostages, according to the Israel Times.
