NRA Endorses Trump-Backed Nevada US Senate Candidate Adam Laxalt

The National Rifle Association (NRA) on Thursday endorsed former Nevada Attorney General and U.S. Senate candidate Adam Laxalt (R), giving him an A+ grade for his Second Amendment record.

Laxalt replied:

I am honored to once again be endorsed by the National Rifle Association and to receive an A+ grade for my record in support of our Second Amendment freedoms. NRA members have been on the front line to protect our constitutional rights and I am proud to stand with them. As Nevada Attorney General, I fought back against efforts by the left to weaken our freedoms, and I look forward to continuing that fight as our next U.S. Senator.

The NRA says it awards an A+ rating to candidates who “not only have an excellent voting record on all critical NRA issues, but who [have] makes a vigorous effort to promote and defend the Second Amendment. The organization endorsed Laxalt in 2018 when he ran for governor and also gave him an A+ rating.

Army veteran Sam Brown (R) was the only other U.S. Senate candidate from Nevada to receive a memo from the NRA. The organization gave him an AQ rating, which means “a pro-weapons candidate whose rating is based solely on the candidate’s answers to the NRA-PVF candidate’s questionnaire and who does not have a voting record on the questions. of the Second Amendment”.

Laxalt launched his Senate bid in August 2021 and won the endorsement of former President Donald Trump shortly thereafter. In early May, Laxalt won broad approval from several Nevada police groups.

Laxalt hopes to unseat Sen. Catherine Marie Cortez Masto (D-NV) in the November general election, but must first face three other candidates in the Republican primary on June 14. Recent Emerson College Polling/ The hill showed Laxalt leading Brown by 23 points, 50% to 27%. Four percent of voters said they would support Sharelle Mendenhall, four percent said someone else and 15 percent were undecided.
