He Suburban train that will connect Good viewin Mexico City with the Felipe Ángeles International Airport (AIFA), in the State of Mexico (Edomex) could extend its path to Pachuca, Gentleman. so announced Claudia Sheinbaumhead of the capital’s government.

This May 19, Sheinbaum reported that he had a conversation with Julio MenchacaGovernor of Hidalgo, in which they agreed to guarantee the Suburban Train reaches Pachuca.
It was during the First Ordinary Session of the Metropolitan Development Council of the Valley of Mexico 2023 that Sheinbaum mentioned that he wants the project to connect Mexico City, the State of Mexico and Hidalgo.
“I was speaking today with Governor Julio Menchaca that we have to guarantee that the train that goes from Buenavista to AIFA well reaches Pachuca and then we have a mobility project between the three entities of the Republic.”

The capital’s president pointed out that with the expansion of the Suburban Train route, it will seek to relieve the main road that connects CDMX with the capital of Hidalgo.
“That of course decreases the Mexico-Pachuca highway and that allows a very large mobility because in addition in Buenavista it connects with different modes of transport ”, Sheinbaum exposed this Friday.
The head of Government of the CDMX did not go into details regarding when the construction of the section necessary to reach Pachuca would begin or about the necessary investment.
The Suburban Train currently reaches Lecheria in the Mexican municipality of Cuautitlán Izcalli. The expansion work so that it reaches the AIFA had an advance of 34% until last month. Until that date, the Secretary of National Defense (Sedena) had ready 8 of the 23 kilometers contemplated in the project.

Against this background, Felipe Verdugo López, undersecretary of the Ministry of Communications and Transport Infrastructure (SICT), announced on April 21 that the Completion of the work is scheduled for December of this year. However, it will be up to April 2024 to start operating.
This new form of mobility promises to connect CDMX with the air terminal in 39 minutes over a 42-kilometer route.
“The rail transport will provide the service with electric trains with a fixed itinerary, it will cover a 42-kilometer journey from Buenavista to AIFA in 39 minutes with a guarantee of punctuality, including scheduled stops at the four existing stations and the six new stations of the branch”, announced the SICT in February 2022.
The new stations will be: Cueyamil, Los Agaves, Nextlalpan, Jaltocan, Teyahualco and Prado Sur. They will join Buenavista, Fortuna, Tlalnepantla, San Rafael and Lechería.

For this, work is being done on the relocation of 64,000 meters of main cargo roads, 3,500 meters of existing yards and 6,300 meters of secondary roads, as well as the construction of 13,400 meters of a maneuvering yard and 28 kilometers of track. double.
So far it is unknown when the construction of the new section that will link Buenavista with Pachuca will begin and if this will delay the start of operations of the new Suburban Train route, which was scheduled to begin service in the second half of 2023.
The expansion of this railway network was proposed as a way to solve connectivity problems between the capital and the new airport, with an initial investment of 25 billion pesos. However, with the idea put forward by Sheinbaum, it could also reduce traffic congestion on the Mexico-Pachuca highway.
In addition, this Friday the capital’s president also mentioned Governor Julio Menchaca’s proposal to create a logistics-industrial corridor between CDMX, Edomex and Hidalgo with AIFA as the center.
