SOUTHLAKE, Texas (CBSDFW.COM) –A Southlake man warns people to watch their pets over the next few days, after having to save his dog from a frozen pool.
Rajat Sharma’s family were staying with neighbors after a pipe burst in their house.
When they heard the neighbor’s dog bark, he went outside to find his dog, Zoya, who was struggling to get out of a frozen pool.
A security camera captured the entire incident, including the rescue.
Everyone is yelling at Leo! Her barking alerted her North Texas family that Zoya, another puppy in the family, had fallen through the ice in their frozen back pool. Zoya was saved and I hope Leo got some extra goodies for it! pic.twitter.com/7AcTPEHdo9

“What did I know was that I had to go get her?” Rajat said. “I tried to walk lightly, but deep inside I knew that if it couldn’t support his weight, it sure wouldn’t take mine.
He said it was a good reminder to keep an eye on your puppies for the next few days.
“That ice cream is still out there and it’s probably starting to melt, and you know it’s dangerous.”
Looking back, Rajat can smile, but he says there is a lesson to be learned.
“Your puppies are like your children,” he says. “Just make sure there is someone there to reach them if there is a problem.”
