No one for the Speaker of the House


Jim Jordan worked to convince Republicans skeptical of his candidacy for House speaker, and he could have won Tuesday by losing four votes. Instead, it was 20 in the first round. After two weeks of paralysis in the House, we no longer know clearly who will be able to bring the Republicans together. Mr. Jordan was still seeking votes before the deadline, but if he fails to do so, the solution, for now, may be to empower the Acting President to Patrick McHenry.
