No Man’s Sky Outlaws update offers improved combat and more

Hello Games has released another big free update for No Man’s Sky. This one is called Outlaw, and it offers a set of missions where the player can acquire black market technology and other essential goods from other ships in a less than savory way – and then smuggle them in for a profit. There are also bounty missions and planetary raids. There will be high conflict zones in areas where outlaws have captured space stations where you will have plenty of chances to engage in dogfights. Oh, and there are now capes and cowls you can unlock for your character.

The studio says combat has been enhanced with “speed and excitement” as the goal. Ships should handle better, but for those who want more accessibility during combat, there’s a new option called “Auto-Follow” to let you focus more on shooting and shield management.

I’ll take this cape. Thank you so much.

Like almost all No Man’s Sky update, there are a plethora of other improvements that might make you want to go back. There’s a new Solar Starship, which is the first new addition to the fleet since the start of 2020. (It definitely looks different from the previous set of ships in the game.)

Additionally, you will be able to own nine ships (previously six) and you will be able to recruit and upgrade pilots for your ships, each with unique combat abilities. All spaceships support more high-capacity cargo slots than before, and you can upgrade your ship at any space station.
