Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-MD) said on CNN’s “Anderson Cooper 360” that there was “no evidence of treason, corruption or high crimes” on the part of President Joe Biden to justify impeachment.
Raskin said: “It’s ridiculous, of course. I mean, there are people who voted not to impeach Donald Trump for inciting a violent insurrection against a union, either because they don’t think it’s a crime or because they don’t think that the evidence existed, even if the evidence was overwhelming.
He continued: “We actually had ten Republicans join us in the House and seven Republicans vote for conviction in the Senate. Either way, you have these Republicans who can’t bring themselves to impeach Donald Trump who tried to overturn a presidential election and attacked our constitutional order and are now moving to impeach Joe Biden for unspecified reasons. So I think it’s absurd.
Raskin added: “There is no evidence of treason, corruption or serious crimes. There is no evidence of any crime committed by Joe Biden. So this is all clearly motivated by Donald Trump wanting to establish this false moral equivalence between the two just so he can say he’s running against another impeached president. So it’s really stupid.
