Ictor Osimhen scored four goals on Monday as Nigeria beat minnows Sao Tome and Principe 10-0 in Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

It marks the Super Eagles’ biggest win in international football.

Nigeria, who surprisingly missed out on a World Cup berth in Qatar, completed the record rout with seven second-half goals as Terem Moffi (two), Moses Simon, Peter Etebo, Ademola Lookman and Emmanuel Dennis are also listed on the score sheet. .

The defeat – which took place in the neutral venue of Agadir in Morocco – is not the heaviest in Sao Tome’s history, it was an 11-0 loss to Congo in 1976.

The win means Nigeria have six points from their opening two games as they seek to reach the continental final in Ivory Coast next June.

The top two teams from each pool qualify, with Sierra Leone taking on Guinea-Bissau in the other group game on Monday.
