NEW YORK — Nicholas Lloyd Webber, Grammy-nominated composer, record producer and eldest son of Andrew Lloyd Webber, died in England on Saturday after a long battle with gastric cancer and pneumonia. He was 43 years old.

“His whole family is reunited and we’re all totally unprepared,” Webber, 75, said in a statement emailed by a rep. “Thank you for all your thoughts during this difficult time.”

Nicholas died in a hospital in the city of Basingstoke in south-central England, his father said. Webber, the famous composer, missed Thursday’s Broadway opening of his “Bad Cinderella” to be alongside his son with other loved ones.

Nicholas is best known for his work on BBC One’s ‘Love, Lies and Records’, based on the book ‘The Little Prince’. He also worked on his father’s “Cinderella” in 2021, which won him a Grammy Award for Best Musical Theater Album.

Nicholas is Webber’s son with his first wife, Sarah Hugill, also the mother of his older sister, Imogen. The eldest Webber has four other children.
