next hike in electricity prices irritates opposition – RT en français

Several right-wing elected officials, including Marine Le Pen, denounce the place given to renewable energies as the reason for the price hikes anticipated by UFC-Que Choisir while La France insoumise denounces the opening to competition in 2007.

The announcement on September 20 by the consumer association UFC-Que Choisir of an increase, at the beginning of 2022, in the regulated tariff for the sale of electricity of “nearly 10%” made the opposition jump, which notably denounces the impact of renewable energies on the cost of the energy mix.

On the right, the deputy and candidate of the National Rally (RN) for the presidential election, Marine Le Pen, estimated that “the dizzying increase in constrained spending is becoming insurmountable for many” French people, and that we must “stop subsidizing energy non-virtuous renewables like wind power ”, too expensive according to her.

The deputy Les Républicains (LR) of Vaucluse Julien Aubert, also pointed out the reduction of the French nuclear fleet, asking the Prime Minister Jean Castex and environmental figures if the ecological transition will not “make non-renewable purchasing power the French”.

On the left, for the deputy La France insoumise (LFI) of Ariège Bénédicte Taurine, “the prices of gas and electricity keep increasing because prices fluctuate freely on the market”. The UFC-Que Choisir study also underlines that electricity prices have exploded since the opening to competition, with an increase of 60% since 2007. “Everyone suffers, especially the most fragile”, added the elected.

An argument also raised by the former member Martine Billard, member of the management of LFI: “The governments had promised us lower prices and as always, the opposite is happening. Opening up to competition = higher prices, ”she wrote on Twitter.
