New York thieves steal $300,000 while distracting bank guard


Police say three suspects stole a bag containing $300,000 from an armored truck in Brooklyn on Friday afternoon.

The incident happened when a Brink’s armored truck drove up to a Chase Bank on Eighth Avenue, the New York Daily News reported Sunday.

While the driver remained in the vehicle, his co-worker put a bag full of cash on the bumper and two suspects approached the worker to ask for directions.

“As they were talking, the third thief slipped inside and grabbed the bag, police said. He fled south on Eighth Avenue with the score, while his accomplices are dispersed, according to the cops, ”said the Daily News says the report.

A similar incident occurred in January 2021 when a man robbed an armored truck in the Bronx and drove off with a bag full of cash, according to CBS New York:

The suspect accused of seizing the bag was described as a light-skinned, slim-built man wearing a black hat, black hooded jacket, gray pants and black shoes, the outlet continued:

The suspects who distracted the Brink’s worker were both medium-skinned and medium-built men, cops said. One of the robbers was wearing a black winter hat with white trim, a black hooded winter coat, gray pants and black sneakers. The other suspect was wearing a black winter hat, black face mask, black jacket, black pants, black sneakers and a black backpack.

Crime in New York has increased over the past year, Breitbart News reported in November.

“Recent crime statistics from the New York City Police Department (NYPD) show that since the start of the year, rape has increased by 10.9%, theft by 32.4%, burglary 29.1% and robbery 38.5%,” the article said.
