It was with horror that New Yorkers learned this Sunday, December 3, of the death of four people, including two children, killed by a suspect armed with a kitchen knife. The tragedy occurred around 5 a.m. in a house located in a neighborhood in Queens. A young woman called the police in panic, claiming that her cousin was killing relatives. The man armed with a kitchen knife allegedly attacked several members of his family.
In all, Courtney Gordon, 38, killed an 11-year-old girl, a 12-year-old boy, a 44-year-old woman and a man in his 30s, according to CNN. Another person, a 61-year-old woman, was seriously injured. She was hospitalized in serious condition.
Police officers attacked
When the police arrived at the scene of the crime, the attacker, carrying a suitcase, rushed at them. Taking out his knife, he attacked a member of the police, hitting him in the neck and chest. One of the police officers then shot the murderer. The latter died of his injuries during his transport to hospital. No vital prognosis of the agents has been made.
Before leaving the house, the attacker set fire to the living room sofa, starting a fire. This prevented the immediate intervention of emergency services.
