New York City will add migrant shelters to its curfew list on Monday due to violence erupting among people living there.
Spokeswoman Kayla Mamelak said officials in Mayor Eric Adams’ (D) office would impose the curfew — set from 11 p.m. to 6 a.m. — on 20 additional shelters, adding to the four shelters already under the curfew. restrictions, the Associated Press reported. The Press (AP) reported on Sunday:
The curfew affects about 3,600 migrants, with the largest emergency center housing nearly 1,000 migrants in Long Island City, Queens, according to a list provided by the mayor’s office.
Municipal authorities initially imposed a curfew four shelters last month in response to neighborhood complaints.
Mamelak said the curfews are consistent with restrictions already in place at New York’s traditional homeless shelters and allow for more “effective capacity management” of migrants in the city’s care.
Importantly, sanctuary cities and their surrounding suburbs are experiencing increasing crime from migrants whom Democratic President Joe Biden’s administration released after crossing the border illegally, Breitbart News reported on January 31.
“Police, particularly in the Chicago area and New York, have reported a significant increase in crime related to migrants being transferred to their cities,” the outlet said.
A group of New York City migrants recently attacked New York Police Department (NYPD) officers outside a taxpayer-funded migrant shelter, according to Breitbart News.

The incident occurred when a police officer tried to arrest one of the migrants. The outlet also noted that “after the migrants were arrested, they were released from prison without having to pay a cent of bail.”
The report continues:
Republican Alison Esposito, a congressional candidate in New York’s 18th Congressional District, said New Yorkers are “living in an upside-down world” thanks to waves of illegal immigration coupled with freedom reform under bail.
Since spring 2022, nearly 200,000 border crossers and illegal aliens have arrived in New York and more than 67,000 are still living at taxpayer expense in city-run shelters.
Since Adams opened the Roosevelt Hotel in Midtown Manhattan to thousands of illegal immigrants, at least 41 have been arrested. Most of those arrested were linked to incidents of domestic violence, Breitbart News reported in September.
