New York anti-vax protesters arrested after staging Times Square Olive Garden sit-in

Four people have been arrested after a group of anti-vax protesters staged a sit-in at Times Square’s Olive Garden on Friday night, police said.

The vocal opponents consisted of a “number of individuals” who refused to comply with the restoration mandate inside New York City, the NYPD said.

They were confronted by cops in the restaurant’s bar after refusing to show proof of a COVID-19 vaccination, footage shows posted on Twitter.

The incident was over by 10:40 p.m., after most dissidents left the restaurant voluntarily, police said. Three men and a woman were to be charged with trespassing, officials said. Their names were not immediately released.

“Wake up New York!” Wake up ! one of the suspects shouted as he was led into a police van through the heart of Times Square, according to video on social media.

“I was arrested. They arrested me for trying to eat at Olive Garden, that’s what happened,” said another protester, claiming his civil rights had been violated.

As the suspects were arrested, other protesters used profane language to insult and heckle the group of officers involved, footage showed. At one point, a member of the band played NWA’s “Fk The Police” over a speaker.

Similar protests were staged at other restaurant chains across the city, including a Cheesecake Factory in Queens and a Burger King in Brooklyn last month.

It was unclear whether the group behind these sit-ins was also responsible for Friday’s disruption.

A receptionist at the Manhattan restaurant referred The Post to a company spokesperson, who did not immediately return a request for comment.
