New President for the European Committee of the Regions
The European Committee of the Regions (CoR) on Wednesday elected a socialist member of the regional parliament of the Azores, Vasco Alves Cordeiro, as the new president for the next two and a half years. Former President Apostolos Tzitzikostas, Governor of Central Macedonia in Greece, was elected First Vice President. Cordeiro, a CoR member since 2013, is the committee’s first Portuguese president.
