New Jersey COVID Update: RWJ Barnabas Health Fires 6 Unvaccinated Employees


NEW JERSEY (WABC) – A New Jersey hospital said it fired six high-ranking employees for refusing to comply with its COVID vaccine mandate.

RWJ Barnabas Health said six supervisor-level staff refused to comply with the hospital’s vaccination mandate.

In May, the healthcare provider announced its policy requiring all team members at supervisory level or above to complete their immunization cycle by the end of June.

Diana Rocco has the latest COVID news in New York City and the mayor’s update on mask advice.

They say employees have not been granted medical or religious exemptions or deferral.

Despite the layoffs, the health care provider says 2,979 staff (99.7%) who are at supervisor level and above have been fully immunized or received some sort of exemption as of July 14.
