New details revealed about Travis Kelce’s injury

The Kansas City Chiefs will be looking to reach the Super Bowl for the third time in the past four years when they host the Cincinnati Bengals in Sunday’s AFC Championship Game.

This contest could be a very entertaining game, but unfortunately for Kansas City, it won’t be full.

Superstar quarterback Patrick Mahomes has been struggling with a sprained ankle he suffered in last week’s Division Round win over the Jacksonville Jaguars, and to make matters worse, the winger close Travis Kelce now suffers from a back condition.

According to Jim Nantz, one of CBS Sports’ main play-by-play men for his NFL coverage, Kelce was injured in practice on Friday.

With wide receiver Tyreek Hill now in Miami, Kelce has become the Chiefs’ best weapon this season, and he responded by throwing for a career-high 1,338 yards and 12 touchdowns, earning him his eighth consecutive Pro selection. Bowl and his fourth All-Pro. wink from the first team.

Kelce will need to be at or near his best against a Bengals team that can score in clusters.

It will be a rematch of last year’s AFC title game, a game in which Kelce had 10 catches for 95 yards and a touchdown.

However, this contest was heartbreaking for his team.

They took a 21-3 lead in the first half, only to allow the Bengals to fight back and force overtime, where Mahomes threw an interception, allowing Cincinnati kicker Evan McPherson to convert the game-winning field goal.

When the two teams faced off in Week 13 this season, Kelce was limited to just 56 yards on four receptions.
