New ad shows Texas government far from only Republican making offensive comments about rape

Progressive PAC MeidasTouch urges voters to never forget the offensive comments Republicans have made about rape in a new video that has gone viral on Twitter.

The clip resurfaces past comments from GOP candidates, state officials and national lawmakers, including 2012 and 2016 presidential candidate Rick Santorum and former white nationalist representative Steve King (R-Iowa).

Santorum says rape victims “should make the most of a bad situation” in the older stills featured in the video.

King asks if it was “not for rape and incest, would there still be population?” “

The spot was published on Tuesday following the widely criticized defense by Texas Gov. Greg Abbott (right) of his state’s six-week abortion ban, in which he dismissed concerns that victims of rape and incest are now forced to carry their babies to term. .

The clip has garnered over 700,000 views on Twitter. The impact of these partisan spots on swing voter influence is uncertain.
