Netflix transgender employee who protested Dave Chappelle’s resignation

The transgender Netflix employee who helped organize the employee walkout last month to protest comedian Dave Chappelle has resigned, saying “I’m relieved to have the shutdown.”

Terra Field, a transgender male to female, left the company on Sunday, according to a copy of the resignation letter Field posted online. Field, who worked as a software engineer at Netflix, did not elaborate on the reason for leaving, but said the firing of his trans colleague B. Pagels-Minor for allegedly leaking inside data to a reporter was a catalyst.

“Shortly after B. was fired for something I didn’t do and I don’t believe they [sic] done, I made a decision: sink or swim, I was going to walk side by side with B. as they [sic] had for many of us, ”Field wrote.

Field said Pagels-Minor gave birth to a son last week.

“They are both happy and healthy, and for me that is the note on which I would like this chapter of my life to end. I want to focus on the joy, not the sorrow.

Field still claims he was suspended from duty last month after tweeting reviews of Chappelle’s Netflix special The closest.

In the Twitter thread, Field accused Chappelle of attacking “the trans community and the very validity of transsexuality – while trying to oppose other marginalized groups.”

Netflix has denied suspending employees for publicly criticizing Chappelle.

Dave Chappelle is currently touring 11 screening cities for his new documentary, Untitled.

The comedian told a series of transgender jokes during an engagement Monday at Madison Square Garden in New York City, according to a Daily Beast report. The jokes reportedly included a running gag on trans pronouns and claiming to identify as a woman to get a better place in prison.
