Netflix lands the two 2024 Christmas games

Recently, Netflix roasted Tom Brady. Later this year we’ll be broadcasting football while we roast chestnuts.

Netflix has obtained the rights to the two Christmas games which will be played on Wednesday December 25. The streamer announced the deal Wednesday morning.

This possibility was first mentioned last Wednesday by Boomer Esiason. Puck’s John Ourand then reported that the trend was the same, but that wasn’t the case. On Monday evening, we caught wind of industry buzz that Amazon was putting together a last-minute gaming release.

In the end, this did not happen. Netflix offers both games. For the first time ever, the NFL built a package of games within the confines of the existing broadcast contract and sold them to a company that is not an existing broadcast partner.

Existing broadcast partners may not be happy about this. Especially not Amazon, which currently pays the NFL considerable sums for Thursday night and Black Friday games.
