Nearly half of M2F transgender inmates in Canada convicted of sex crimes

Nine out of ten men who identify as women in Canadian prisons are violent offenders and nearly half of them have been convicted of a sex crime, according to a recent study.

THE studywhich was conducted by the Correctional Service of Canada (CSC), interviewed 99 different “gender diverse” inmates between 2017 and 2020 as part of a “review of gender diverse offenders”.

It found that of the 61 male offenders who identified as female or as something other than male, 46% had committed a sex crime, while 92% had committed a violent crime. Meanwhile, zero percent of women who identify as men have been convicted of a sex crime.

Among men who identify as men, only 25.8% were serving time for violent offenses such as homicide, attempted murder and aggravated assault, among others, according to CSC’s annual report.

The researchers also said that 62.7% of male inmates who did not identify as male had low integration potential, while 39.3% required maximum security and 74.6% had a ” high static risk”, which measures the likelihood that a convicted criminal will re-offend.

Perhaps most shockingly, more than half of the victims of convicted felons, 58%, were children. Besides, 55% of the victims were women. Among sex offenders, 85% committed an offense that resulted in the death or serious injury of their victim. A third of offenders had more than one victim.

In the meantime, the Senior Media Relations Advisor of the Correctional Service of Canada, Marie Pier Lécuyer, gave a statement to the Daily Wire, explaining that “Of the 33 gender-diverse offenders identified as having a history of sexual offending, 84.9% (28) were male and 15.1% (5) were female at the time of the study.”

Almost half, 47%, of the offenders surveyed were Aboriginal, despite representing only 5% of the Canadian population.

Additionally, the report also revealed that only about 16% of men who identified as transgender or “gender diverse” asked to be transferred to a women’s prison. A large majority, 62%, of those who requested the transfer were granted, while 19% were refused and 19% were still pending at the time of the study.
