Nearly 16,000 ComEd customers in Chicago area without power – NBC Chicago

Sudden power outages in the Chicago area affected thousands of residents Friday afternoon, particularly in southwest Chicago and nearby suburbs, according to ComEd.
Despite perfect September weather Friday, 15,930 ComEd customers were without power as of 3:52 p.m. local time, according to the company’s outage dashboard.
Although the outages are scattered throughout the region, the majority of affected customers are in Chicago’s far southwest and nearby suburbs, with the communities of Washington Heights, Roseland and Beverly appearing to be particularly affected.
The source of the power outage is currently unknown, but affected residents can report their outage or view an outage map here.
