The Los Angeles Lakers played the Utah Jazz on Monday night and, once again, they lost in humiliating fashion.

LeBron James sat out the game with an injury and his team lost 139-116 to the Jazz.

It was another very disappointing game for the Lakers, but it wasn’t at all surprising either.

At this point, fans expect the Lakers to continue to get worse as the season progresses.

NBA writer Sam Quinn got very real about the team and what it needs to do.

He made it clear by saying, “There is no galactic brain solution to the Lakers’ problems.”

He continued, “Either they’re going to drop both choices to put a cohesive supporting cast around LeBron and AD, or they don’t. It’s so simple. There is no avoiding this question.

Quinn is right: Just about everyone has come to the conclusion that this team won’t recover unless they take a huge step forward and trade their draft picks.

Now the question is whether they will.

The Lakers lose again

For the first games, everyone was convinced that Russell Westbrook was the problem with the team.

But Westbrook has improved a lot coming off the bench (for example, he scored 22 points and 5 assists on Monday).

Fingers can no longer be pointed at him.

Instead, it’s become increasingly clear that this team just isn’t working the way it is and major changes need to be made.

And those changes can’t happen unless the front office makes peace with the trade in draft picks they’ve held tightly for so long.

Plus, every other NBA team knows how desperate the Lakers are right now, so no one will even talk about a possible trade unless draft picks are included.

Things are looking bleak for the Lakers.
