NBA Power Rankings: Bucks are the new No. 1; The warriors slip; compliment sandwiches for everyone

A compliment sandwich is one of the stupidest ways to deal with what can happen in a work environment. The concept is that you are complimented, so you can then be criticized and, before you know what hit you, another compliment is thrown your way. It’s supposed to make you feel good about criticism, and it rarely works.

Naturally, I decided to give each team a compliment sandwich this week. This isn’t effective in a work environment, but it might be perfect for Power Rankings. And of course, everyone will be perfectly ranked without complaints or rebuttals on the Internet.

Reminder: The Power Rankings do not just rank the 30 teams. We divide these teams into tiers, which teams can enter and exit from. We currently have the Power Rankings divided into six new categories:

  • I don’t tank but maybe one day — They haven’t started tanking yet, but it’s on the table this season.
  • Looking to make the Play-In — They have rebuilt/reorganized and believe they can place in the top 10 in their respective conference.
  • Play-In or Better Tournament Teams — They should be there unless something disastrous happens.
  • Playoff teams — You probably won’t have to worry about advancing to the Play-In tournament.
  • On the verge of discord — A piece of us is away from believing that they can win the title.
  • Competitors — They are fighting for the championship, barring serious injury.

As always, I’m sure we’ll all agree on the placement of the 30 teams, especially your favorite team.

This is how Power Rankings work:

  • It is at my discretion to decide how the rankings evolve. For some teams, they will be affected in the short term. Others will benefit in the long term. Yes, it’s entirely subjective.
  • If I have a team ahead of another team, there’s no reason to ask why they’re ranked above the team you like. The answer is pretty simple: I think this team is better prepared to succeed.
  • Yes, I watch the matches. And yes, I watch your favorite team.
  • It’s supposed to be fun, so let’s have fun.

With that said, let’s dive into week 5 of Athleticism NBA power rankings. The stats and records date back to Monday’s action.
