Naya Rivera’s dad details her heartbreaking latest call

It’s a moment that will haunt forever Naya riverais dad George.

On July 8 of last year, her daughter and grandson Josey were cruising on Lake Piru in Southern California when the Joy the FaceTime star asked him a question: would it be safe to swim?

“I could see the wind was blowing and my stomach was barely tightening,” he reminded People magazine. “I kept telling him, ‘Don’t get out of the boat! Don’t get out of the boat! He’ll drift when you’re in the water.'”

A few minutes later, when their call was cut off, George “had this bad feeling that was killing me.”

Unfortunately, his instincts were right. Later that day, Josey was found alone in the boat with Naya, 33, who was nowhere to be found. It would take five days to recover his body, found floating on the surface of the lake in the early hours of July 13. An autopsy detailed the cause of his death as accidental drowning.
