National anthem standoff ends with ejection of two MLB players

In recent years, getting professional athletes to show respect for the anthem at all. This weekend, two MLB players got in trouble for the opposite problem…they showed too much respect.
Kansas City Royals right-handed reliever Luke Weaver and Mariners left-handed Robbie Ray, who were once teammates, got into a long stalemate after the anthem playing on Sunday got so out of control the game got been delayed.
Seattle’s Luke Weaver and Robbie Ray had a good old showdown themselves before the game.

Both players were sent off for being too patriotic, apparently.
The announcement has just been made in the press box. Mariners starter Robbie Ray and Royals reliever Luke Weaver were ejected prior to the start of today’s game.

Robbie Ray wasn’t scheduled to pitch on Sunday, so his loss wasn’t harshly felt. On the other hand, Weaver hadn’t pitched in a while and could have been called into action, but he made himself unavailable.
