Nashville school shooting: What we know about the killer so far | American News

A school shooter killed six people at Covenant School in Nashville before police shot him dead.

We now know the the attacker was a 28 year old transexualnamed Audrey Elizabeth Hale – initially police thought she was a teenager.

She was a former student of the school and a resident of Nashville who lived with her parents.

Hale, who had no criminal history, was armed with two ‘assault-type’ rifles and a pistol, and officers received information about the attack at 10.13am (4.13pm UK time) .

The shooter had entered the building by shooting through the door before committing the attacks.

In response to the shooting, two officers opened fire and shot her at 10:27 a.m. (4:27 p.m.).

Police say Hale drew a detailed map of the school, which included potential entry points and planned lookout before killing his victims.

Nashville Police Chief John Drake said they were reviewing a manifesto and writings from the attacker who they called a “lonely zealot”.

Mr Drake said: “We have a manifesto, we have writings that we go through that relate to that date, the actual incident. We have a map drawn of how this was all going to play out.”

However, no possible motive has yet been given for Hale’s actions.
