Naomi Osaka will soon serve up some serious style at one of celebrity fashion’s biggest events while taking on one of its most important roles.
On Monday, September 13, the 23-year-old tennis star will co-chair the 2021 Met Gala, marking her first appearance at the Costume Institute’s annual fundraiser at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City. She shares the role with beginners in events Billie Eilish, 2021 presidential inauguration poet Amanda Gorman and actor Timothée Chalamet, plus honorary president and longtime organizer, Vogue Editor-in-chief Anna wintour.
“I’m a newcomer, but I can’t wait to see how it all works out,” Naomi told E! New’ Victor-Cruz. “Honestly, it’s an honor to be chosen.”
The tennis star, who showcased a bold Louis Vuitton ensemble at ESPYS 2021 in July, made his comments at a recent event at Mr. Purple in New York City, celebrating the start of the US Open with his partnership with luxury watchmaker TAG Heuer.
