Srikakulam district in Andhra Pradesh got a pleasant surprise on Tuesday when a mysterious golden tank washed up at Sunnapalli Sea Harbor in the district amid the impact of Cyclone Asani in the area.
People on the shore were seen pulling the tank out of the water and bringing it to shore, NNA reported.
“It could be from another country. We have informed intelligence and senior officials,” said SI from Naupada (Srikakulam district).
But Santabommali district officials said his origins may not be from foreign soil, but more local than that, The Times of India reported. Tehsildar J Chalamayya told TOI that he may have been used as a prop for filming a movie along the east coast of India and may have run aground in Srikakulam due of the effect of Cyclone Asani.
Meanwhile, the severe Cyclone Asani weakened into a cyclonic storm on Wednesday. It headed towards the northern coast of Andhra Pradesh and came within 34 km of Narsapur in the state, packing a wind speed of 85 km per hour and bringing heavy rain to the region, the weather bureau said.
The weather system was expected to move away from the coast and weaken further into a depression by Thursday.
