Mysterious golden cart runs aground in Andhra’s Srikakulam

Srikakulam district in Andhra Pradesh got a pleasant surprise on Tuesday when a mysterious golden tank washed up at Sunnapalli Sea Harbor in the district amid the impact of Cyclone Asani in the area.

Tehsildar J Chalamayya told TOI that he may have been used as a prop for filming a movie along the east coast of India and may have run aground in Srikakulam due of the effect of Cyclone Asani.

Meanwhile, the severe Cyclone Asani weakened into a cyclonic storm on Wednesday. It headed towards the northern coast of Andhra Pradesh and came within 34 km of Narsapur in the state, packing a wind speed of 85 km per hour and bringing heavy rain to the region, the weather bureau said.

The weather system was expected to move away from the coast and weaken further into a depression by Thursday.

Due to the cyclone, IndiGo, AirAsia and Air India canceled flights to Visakhapatnam, Vijayawada and Rajahmundry for May 11. IndiGo offered alternative flights or a full refund to its customers.
Air India has also canceled Mumbai-Raipur-Visakhapatnam and Delhi-Visakhapatnam flights. About 10 flights from Hyderabad, Visakhapatnam, Jaipur and Mumbai to Chennai airport have also been canceled so far, Chennai airport authorities said.
The cyclone is very likely to move almost north over the next few hours and slowly return north-northeast along the coasts of Narsapur, Yanam, Kakinada, Tuni and Visakhapatnam from noon to evening Wednesday and emerge in the west-central Bay of Bengal off northern Andhra Pradesh. coasts overnight, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) said.
