My Drogo heads for Aintree victory for Skeltons | Race news

My Drogo was a very impressive winner of the novice first hurdle from Betway Mersey to Aintree.

Harry Skelton held the favorite 5-4 and slightly wide at first – but they challenged down the straight and cleared the penultimate flight to win by a commanding nine-and-a-half lengths.

Coached by jockey Dan’s brother, the imposing six-year-old struck at the highest level for the first time and extended his unbeaten hurdles record to four after consecutive second-year wins.

Minella Drama, ridden by Skelton title rival Brian Hughes, held second at 12-1 ahead of underdog Guard Your Dreams.
