Muret: what we know about the suicide attempt of a 12-year-old girl in her school
A student in 5th grade at Louisa-Paulin de Muret college would have wanted to take action. The police are already investigating after the serious events that occurred early in the afternoon at the college. A case in which harassment cannot be ruled out.
What exactly happened this Tuesday early afternoon at the Louisa-Paulin college in Muret? According to our information, a 12-year-old student, enrolled in 5th grade, was taken into care by the educational community of the establishment, after their supervisors raised the alarm. Did Célia (1), locked in the toilet for many minutes, want to do the irreparable, a textile thread having been found high up, suggesting a macabre plot against herself?
This Tuesday evening, the Rectorate left no doubt: “During the lunch break, around 1:50 p.m., a young girl went to the toilet to try to end her life. This young girl was already closely followed by the college’s monitoring unit. Vigilantes, a supervisor and the CPE, joined her in the toilet and were able to intervene in time.” It would have been necessary to partially break down the door to get the teenager out, witnessing a worrying silence.
Immediately notified by the college, the firefighters went to the scene. The deputy academic director of the Haute-Garonne National Education Services contacted Célia’s parents by telephone. Fortunately, his life is not in danger and the reasons for his actions are not known at this stage.
The investigation, entrusted to the Muret gendarmerie brigade, must quickly remove any doubt on this subject, the military, again according to our information, absolutely not ruling out a case involving harassment.

“Dark thoughts”
Since the last school year and as part of the fight against the scourge of harassment, several students from Muretain college have been temporarily excluded from their schooling for proven acts of harassment. What the principal of the school, Hugues Fougère, who has been at Louisa-Paulin for two months, does not seem to have to apply to Célia: “Certainly, this student has been expressing deep discomfort for a long time, with dark thoughts referring to a pathology and medical follow-up, but it is not a question of harassment, even latent. » The principal, who was rather reassuring, just a few hours after the events: “There was no life-threatening situation, and it should be noted the involvement of the entire educational community, CPE, deputies, assistant social, relief and authorities, at the time of taking charge of the student, also supported by his own family. » According to Hugues Fougère, “the student, in care for a long time, including in primary school, experienced particular discomfort which resulted in a crisis today”. Other students, but also parents, recognize in Célia “a young girl who is withdrawn into herself, who reads a lot, and who can be bothered by other people…”.
