MSNBC’s Mehdi Hasan puts the brakes on the media’s sudden love affair with Florida Governor Ron DeSantis (R), whose easy re-election last week has many GOP members thinking he might be the one to finally eliminate Donald Trump.
Hasan noted “flaky bits” in favor of DeSantis that are already showing up.
“Don’t get me wrong,” he said. “Ron DeSantis’ 19-point victory over Charlie Crist is objectively remarkable, impressive, especially considering that he has spent his time as governor demonizing gay children and teachers, pressuring Venezuelan migrants to across the country and presiding over 80,000 dead Floridians, the highest total number of any state in the country.
But there were other even more impressive gubernatorial victories last week — and they don’t get as much attention.
