CSK Playing XI vs GT: Why should MS Dhoni drop Uthappa & Rayudu?
- Rayudu with his shocking retirement announcement proved he was insecure about his career.
- Although he was dissuaded from retiring by the CSK management, he lacks self-confidence due to his poor form.
- Rayudu in the last three IPL matches: 10 against MI, 5 against DC, 10 against RCB.
- Robin Uthappa shone initially but has managed four single-digit scores in his last four games.
- Uthappa in the last 4 games: 1 against MI, 0 against DC, 1 against RCB, 1 against PBKS
- After CSK crashed to their second-lowest total of 97 against MI, the team’s batting department needs a closer look.
- As CSK have already pulled out of the playoff race, the last two games could help MS Dhoni test the strength of the bench.
- Narayan Jagadeesan, Hari Nishanth, Subhranshu Senapati and Rajvardhan Hangargekar are four youngsters who are heating up the bench.

However, as with the others in the Playing XI, they are all but confirmed to play barring a late injury. Devon Conway is in great shape, as is Ruturaj Gaikwad. Both will continue to open.
It is places No. 3 and 4 that are under debate. If Hari Nishanth or N Jagadeesan plays, they are both top hitters and Moeen Ali could be pushed back to No.5.
Shivam Dube after a series of bad shows could also be dropped. Rajvardhan Hangargekar is a versatile young option for CSK to try. But if he makes his CSK debut, Dhoni is likely to promote to No. 6. Dwayne Bravo will beat at No. 7 followed by Hangargekar at No. 8.
