Mower Co. crash turns deadly after deer smashes through windshield | Freeborn/Mower Counties

MOWER COUNTY, Minn. – A 58-year-old Austin woman died after a two-vehicle crash involving a deer Thursday night.

The Mower Co. Sheriff’s Office said it happened at 5:09 p.m. on 555th Avenue, just south of 235th Street, in rural Austin.

A southbound vehicle struck a deer which slammed into the windshield of a northbound vehicle.

The deceased woman was in the passenger seat of the northbound vehicle.

The victim was taken to Mayo Clinic St Mary’s Hospital in Rochester via Mayo One for his injuries. The victim was later pronounced dead at the hospital despite all rescue efforts,” the sheriff’s office said. “As a reminder to all when traveling the roads, please slow down and stay alert for deer and other road hazards as our seasons change.”
