Monica, O My Darling Set To Release November, Netflix Reveals

Monica, O My Darling is due out in November. In a Tudum 2022 Fall Preview blog post, Netflix revealed a guide to its upcoming series and movies. Among that list is Vasan Bala’s new crime comedy, Monica, O My Darling. Although Netflix doesn’t reveal a concrete date for some later entries on the list, fans can expect to see the Rajkummar Rao-directed film in November. Netflix released a trailer for Monica, O My Darling on Tuesday following a screening during the Films Day event in Mumbai.

Bala – known for co-writing Bombay Velvet – describes the film as neo-noir, where the creation of the “perfect plan” for something illegal erupts into utter chaos in the lives of those involved. In Monica, O My Darling, the act is murder, which Rao (Lust Stories) intends to commit. Monica’s one-minute teaser, O My Darling, was fairly vague on plot details, merely highlighting some discussions with other main characters.

September 2022 Netflix releases: Cobra Kai 5, Jamtara 2, Fabulous Lives of Bollywood Wives 2, and more

Huma Qureshi (Army of the Dead) is one such figure, who appears to be operating some sort of organized criminal enterprise. Rao, a robotics expert, conjures up a plan to commit the perfect murder, which would leave no trace of DNA. This is evidenced by the official synopsis, which details “robots crushing human skulls”, in addition to other thematic elements such as lust, blackmail and betrayal. Joining the program is Radhika Apte, who channels a unique focus for the role. There isn’t much information about her character, although Monica, O My Darling sees her reunited with screenwriter Yogesh Chandekar. The two have previously worked together on Andhadhun.

Monica, O My Darling also stars Sikandar Kher (The Zoya Factor) as the comedic henchman, Bagavathi Perumal, Akansha Ranjan Kapoor, Sukant Goel (Dobaaraa) and Zayn Marie Khan.

Besides Monica, O My Darling, the Tudum blog post lists a range of titles gracing the streaming platform this fall. First up, we have the fifth iteration of the martial arts-focused comedy, Cobra Kai 5, which will be released on September 9th. The closing of the month would be the blonde directed by Ana de Armas, directed by Andrew Dominik. The film is a fictionalized biopic of the late actress Marilyn Monroe, and will be released on September 28 on Netflix.

Then, on October 21, we have Guillermo del Toro’s Cabinet of Curiosities, which is an anthology series. November sees the release of Enola Holmes 2 directed by Millie Bobbie Brown on November 4th.

Monica, O My Darling will be available to stream on Netflix in November.
