Model assaulted for her £20,000 Rolex by convicted rapist who pretended to flirt with him leaves UK for Spain after becoming suicidal, court hears

A model who was mugged for her £20,000 Rolex by a convicted rapist who pretended to flirt with him left the UK for Spain after the incident left him suicidal, a court heard.
Dylan Davey, CEO of a talent agency called The Social Inc, was brutally attacked for his designer watch and Cartier bracelets and necklace at Richmond Mews in London’s Soho.
In a heartbreaking statement read to the court, Mr Davey said he attempted suicide after the robbery and had since emigrated to Spain.
The Rolex belonged to his father and was given to Mr Davey for his 21st birthday, Southwark Crown Court heard.
Afghan Ohmed Azizi, 31, convicted of rape in 2016 and released on licence, also took Mr Davey’s iPhone and bank cards during the April 29 attack, along with an unknown associate .

Convicted rapist Omed Azizi (pictured) was jailed for almost seven years after attacking Mr Davey.
Carol Summers, prosecuting, said: “This was a violent robbery committed by this defendant and another unknown man. This happened in the early hours of April 29 this year. Goods worth £46,000 were stolen.
Mr Davey’s friend had noticed two men looking at the victim’s jewelry before she was robbed.
“The defendant pretended to flirt with Mr Davey,” Ms Summers said.
They tried to take shelter at the Freedom Bar, but the security guard said only one of them could go in, the court heard.
CCTV footage shows Azizi leading Mr Davey to a secluded area and punching him in a terrifying attack. The court heard one of the bracelets was cut from Mr Davey’s arm.
Azizi was caught on CCTV inhaling nitrous oxide at the scene. His DNA was later found in an abandoned balloon shortly before the flight.
Richard Paton-Philip, defending Azizi, said that after fleeing Afghanistan as a child in the 1990s he had been “in the wrong audience”.

Azizi has previous convictions for burglary, carrying an imitation firearm and rape in 2016, the court heard.
He was still on license after being released on rape charges when he attacked Mr Davey.
Mr Davey told the court: “You just never accept that this is happening to you.
“Several days after the incident, I attempted suicide and killed myself by taking an overdose of tablets.
“Luckily I have a lovely, supportive family who stopped me and I realized that wasn’t the answer.
“It obviously had a wider effect on my family too.”
Mr Davey’s mother also read out a statement saying: “Dylan told me he no longer wanted to live in London.
“After the attack he flew to Spain and decided he would work there for the near future.
“It is very difficult for me, as a mother, to accept that the people who attacked him forced my son to move to another country.”
Sentencing Azizi, Judge Alexander Milne said: “Mr Davey was in a bar and, in the early evening, found himself isolated on a street in central London.

Mr Davey’s friend had noticed two men looking at the victim’s jewelry before she was robbed. “The defendant pretended to flirt with Mr Davey,” said Carol Summers, prosecuting
“He was clearly encouraged to go down a side street where he appears to have been punched in the face before being violently attacked, chased and then attacked again by this man Omed Azizi and another who has not been identified and is still on the run.
“The financial result of the theft committed that evening in April was the loss to Mr. Davery of a considerable amount of expensive personal property.”
Judge Milne added that the attack “could have been distressing for anyone, but in this case the psychological impact on the victim was pronounced and lasting”.
Azizi, from Harrow, north-west London, sat with his head bowed for most of the hearing, sometimes crying.
He admitted one count of theft and was jailed for six years and nine months.
Detective Constable Harriet Barby, who led the investigation, said: “Azizi is a dangerous offender who targeted a young man enjoying a night out with his friends in Soho.
“This type of behavior is intolerable and the lasting impact that such a violent and unprovoked attack can have on a victim is enormous.

Azizi was caught on CCTV inhaling nitrous oxide at the scene. His DNA was later found in a balloon (photographed in his hand) discarded shortly before the flight.

Police were unable to trace Azizi’s associate (pictured) who was involved in the attack. The judge declared that he “remains at large”
“I am pleased that Azizi has received a custodial sentence. Hopefully this will provide the victim and her family with some sense of justice.
“This is another example of police officers working hard to remove dangerous individuals from the streets of London. We are committed to tackling theft in our communities and keeping Londoners safe.
Detective Chief Inspector Scott Ware said: “This was a complex investigation which involved the review of a considerable number of hours of CCTV footage.
“This result should serve as a warning to anyone else considering committing such an offense that we will do everything possible to identify you and bring you to justice.”
Despite numerous investigations, the other man has not yet been identified. We are releasing two images of him and asking anyone who recognizes him to call 101 quoting reference 6530451/23.
